Type of Study

  • Studies at most Sudanese universities, including White Nile University, are regular studies, meaning that all students accepted at the university are regular and registered with higher education as such. The study system primarily relies on traditional in-person education (face-to-face) where direct interaction between the student and the teacher takes place, characterized by the following features:
  • Personal Attendance: The traditional system relies on students attending classes and lectures on campus.
  • Labs and Laboratories: Some majors, especially in scientific, engineering, and medical faculties, require students to attend labs and laboratories for experiments and practical training.
  • Student Activities: Includes sports, cultural, and social activities organized on campus.

  • However, there have been some developments and improvements to the educational system, especially after the COVID-19 pandemic and the war in our country. Therefore, the university adopted the modern e-learning model, which is characterized by flexibility and meets the needs of learners in the knowledge era in a technical environment that employs information and communication technology, supports self and collaborative learning, and reduces the isolation that the learner feels in a distance learning environment by blending face-to-face education and online learning, whether synchronous or asynchronous, in an integrated model that combines the advantages of both.

Below is an overview of the adopted study system:

  • Blended Learning: Combines in-person and online education. Some lectures and course materials are offered online while others are in-person, depending on the nature of the course and the needs of the students, to ensure the continuity of education. E-learning platforms, such as Moodle, Zoom, and Google Classroom, are used for lectures, tests, and assignments.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Lecture and exam schedules may be adjusted to fit security and weather conditions. The university adopts flexible schedules that allow students to attend lectures or take exams at different times.
  • Recorded Lessons: Some lectures are recorded and made available for students to watch later, providing greater flexibility in learning.
  • International Partnerships: We collaborate with international universities and institutions to provide alternative study programs for students who cannot attend in person due to security conditions.
  • Electronic Resources: Increasing the availability of electronic educational resources such as books, articles, and references to facilitate access to study materials from anywhere.
  • Research and Development: Continuing to support scientific research and develop solutions that help improve educational conditions during crises by allocating a budget of approximately 2% of the university’s total annual revenue.
